Static vs Dynamic Balance – Why Dynamic Balance Is Life’s Equalizer

If you have ever questioned the need for dynamic over static balance in every mental and physical state, then the following article will make the case. Although the author is unknown, this information is too valuable to sit buried in cyberspace.

Static vs Dynamic Balance - Author: Unknown

When most people think of “balance,” they think of it as a fixed state, where good and bad, hot and cold, yin and yang, male and female. A state where the opposite extremes are precisely arranged so that they perfectly reflect each other.

No more of that silly shifting back and forth - just calm, peaceful, still perfect balance.

This is what I would call "Static Balance". "Static" as a technical term means "Having no motion; being at rest; quiescent." or "Pertaining to bodies at rest or in equilibrium."

The problem with this is that Static Balance is, well …Dead.

A battery is an example of an out-of-balance system: it has too much negative energy (electrons) at one pole. Once the electrons have been redistributed, there is no longer a surplus of them, and the battery is now "in balance". In other words, the battery is now …Dead.

If you project the concept of Static Balance out as far as it can go, you end up with a Universe with a temperature of Absolute Zero where not even atoms move, where there is no life, no energy. Nothing but absolutely cold motionless void, perhaps with bits of lifeless matter here and there that will never do anything.

A state of Static Balance is not exactly something to strive for, in my opinion.

What we experience in the Universe and seek to obtain in life is "Dynamic Balance".

Dynamic Balance is the constant ebb and flow between extremes, like a swinging pendulum.

It swings from one extreme to the other, changing slightly from one swing to the next as affected by outside forces (gravity, your finger, wind, etc.).

As it swings it is expressing a form of Dynamic Balance. However, if it stops swinging (Static Balance) it ceases to be a pendulum and is not just a weight on a string.

Life is an expression of dynamic balance. The flow of the soul from life to death and back is similar to the motion of a pendulum. Our goal is to keep the pendulum swinging smoothly between the extremes.

We are out of balance when we get too caught up on one side of the "swing" and no longer be in our desired state of Dynamic Balance.

When you want only to be young and refuse to "allow yourself" to age, you are out of balance.

If you want to be in the false state of euphoria that comes with drugs or alcohol and are unwilling to see that life offers both joy and pain and it swings between them, you are out of balance.

It is as if you are sitting on the pendulum as it swings, but trying to hang on to the wall and keep it from swinging back. You are using lost of your personal energy to stay where you are and resist the swing.

While you are doing it, you are not moving at all but eventually you will tire, you will swing back anyway, but now you are tired from all that holding on. Nothing is gained.

When the pendulum swings to the left, it will always swing back to the right. You may not realize how long it will take, but it will. When things get bad, they will get better.

When things get better, they will be bad again. That's just how life works.

Dynamic Balance is Life.

Static Balance is Death.
