June Superman of the Month

Tom Oddo

Is it possible to turn your whole high school wrestling career around in a single off-season freestyle qualifier tournament?  Damn right it is, and that’s just what Tom Oddo did at the 2007 Empire State Games qualifier at Arlington High School.

After missing most of the 2006-2007 season due to injury, Oddo (Arlington high school) blitzed through the one day competition and took first place by beating two 2007 Section 1 champions (high school All-American James Brundage & Steven Ramos), the 2007 Section 1 runner-up at 152lbs. (Harrison Cook) and Section 9’s 2007 third place finisher at 145lbs. (Cinque Mandela) in the finals.  And that’s why Tom Oddo was crowned Superman of the Month.  So…

Congratulations to Tom Oddo - Superman of the month for June.

Don’t forget to root for Tom and the rest of the Hudson Valley freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers in the Empire State Games at Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, July 26th to the 28th.
